Recently, BICS was awarded the “Best LTE Roaming” product during the LTE North America conference in Dallas, TX.
In addition to the awards ceremony, the conference in Dallas gathered a record 1300 people to discuss everything related to LTE. Topics included the following: VoLTE (voice over LTE), devices, roaming, spectrum management, Hetnets and network optimization, public safety and monetization. Not to mention, how to manage the pending Mobile Data explosion. However, it must be said, the key focus and interest from the operators was VoLTE, Small Cells and how to manage spectrum.
BICS participated in the session on Monetizing LTE, and presented its vision of how to monetize LTE in roaming. In addition, it was emphasized how the experience of subscribers should be optimized across all technologies, while not only focusing on 4G alone. BICS also indicated how network analytics will help operator’s to create additional business opportunities and new revenue streams.
Although LTE is quickly becoming the most rapidly adopted technology ever for both operator’s and subscriber’s, the challenges are many and the industry is still looking into optimizing the model. It is also interesting to note that there is already an interest and discussion regarding 5G, while 4G is still not a fully deployed technology. This shows the trend in our industry to accelerate the development and deployment of new technologies to quickly meet the growing demands of consumers.
In conclusion, we clearly see the focus of operators on how to create new revenue streams from LTE , how to effectively manage the short term deployment, coverage, and spectrum, and further down the road, how to add services such as roaming, VoLTE and RCS into their offerings.
The road ahead is challenging and moving quickly!
