VoLTE (voice over LTE) has been billed as a $200 billion revenue opportunity. With so much potential, how can operators ensure this prediction becomes reality?
BICS recently attended the LTE Voice and Advanced Communication Summit in Amsterdam, where we discussed just that, and shared how our IPX IMS hub is helping to deliver next generation communication services across the globe.
We have a strong standing in this field, having enabled the world’s first international VoLTE call in 2015, which connected users in South Korea and Belgium. Since then, our services have helped support the rapid growth of VoLTE communication, and delivered high definition sound quality for end-users.
However, we’ve also heard concern amongst MNOs that VoLTE has not delivered the revenue lift needed to succeed in today’s cut-throat digital era where consumer voice is gearing towards the OTT application providing ubiquitous experience. New revenue streams and service differentiation are essential for MNOs, and there is a real opportunity for VoLTE to deliver in this regard. How? By connecting and powering enterprises with impeccable communication experience.
According to a recent survey, 45% of workplace meetings are now conducted via conference calls, and over 90% of people take part in a conference call at least once a week. This reflects the shift we’ve seen in working culture over the past few years, as more companies promote BYOD (bring your own device), home and mobile working, and collaborative, cloud-based tools.
In order for conference calls to be productive, these businesses require reliable, cross-border connectivity, crystal-clear sound quality and an optimum end-user experience. No one wants to waste valuable time trying to connect to a poor conference line and dealing with sound and technical glitches.
To address this challenge, BICS provides international connectivity and a full suite of Cloud Communication solution offering Cloud Numbers with High Definition VoLTE services. Our IPX VoLTE service offers intelligent routing, commercial transparency, IMS/VoLTE protocol normalisation and media transcoding capabilities. The IPX IMS hub also allows efficient interworking, and financial settlement and monitoring between operators offering international VoLTE services. We can also manage billing and provide business intelligence services, making it as easy and profitable as possible for mobile operators to deliver rich communication services to end-users.
We’ve been helping businesses as they progress their journey through digital transformation, enabling companies to scale by connecting colleagues, customers and partners on a global level. Going forward, we aim to further improve enterprise communication and support businesses as they move toward Video-over-LTE (ViLTE) for collaborative, visual conferencing calling and Rich Communication Services (RCS) for enterprise messaging.
VoLTE for the enterprise is a win-win proposition. MNOs can become pioneers in the industry, deliver enhanced services to customers and augment revenues as a result. End-users meanwhile can enjoy higher quality communication, enabling them to be more flexible, mobile and productive.
