Last week was the time to return to Fira Gran Via for the most anticipated industry event of the year – Mobile World Congress 2016.
As usual, the GSMA has centred the conference program on the provision and potential of next generation communications, an area BICS has been dedicated to during recent years, achieving a series of world firsts and supporting new protocols as they are developed by lending expertise to a variety of industry working groups. Invariably, subjects discussed at MWC define the direction of the industry over the next 12 months.
GSMA reported over 100,000 attendees to Mobile World Congress 2016, including thousands of C-Level executives and 3,800 media and analyst influencers, each looking to identify the new trends which will shape this year and beyond. Last year many operators moved beyond data-led standard LTE, trialling and launching new customer-facing services such as VoLTE and LTE-A. As expected, many of these providers shared their experiences to the community during this year’s edition as well as discussing exciting new developments towards 5G and the Internet of Things.
From a BICS perspective, many of our product managers and experts were available at our booth. For us, MWC was about meeting with many of our valued partners and customers, as there is nothing quite like the personal touch of a face-to-face meeting at MWC. These discussions enabled us to share industry expertise, learn about the challenges our partners face in their individual markets and offer potential solutions. In addition to customers and partners, BICS experts met many of our analyst and media friends to discuss breakthroughs made during the last year and to share our latest developments.
We were happy to talk with many of you about the trends and drivers of our industry and how we aim to bridge the telecom world with the new unconventional communication service providers worldwide.
See you next year!
