28 operators sign framework to provide affordable or free roaming and calls between the EU and Ukraine
Today, BICS signed a Joint Statement by EU and Ukrainian operators to help refugees from Ukraine stay connected. The Statement was announced at an online event by Thierry Breton, the European Commissioner for Internal Market and was signed by BICS and 27 operators across Europe.
Signatories to the Statement have committed to a joint framework to provide affordable or free roaming and calls between the EU and Ukraine.
Matteo Gatta, CEO of BICS said “We believe telecommunications is a critical infrastructure and that communication is a right. With today’s Joint Statement the European communications community is rallying together to support our neighbors during this crisis, and we are proud to play our role, in addition to the other measures we have already taken.”
Gatta had previously issued an open letter calling for unity in action from EU operators.
