Established as an industry leading exhibition and forum event, ITW is a very important event in the BICS calendar and one we have been proud to wholeheartedly support since its conception.
This prestigious event, firmly focused on the business of wholesale telecommunication, has never failed in providing a valuable forum that, by facilitating the exchange of ideas, has pushed forward new innovations in the sector.
Over recent years, one of the most notable changes at the Chicago-based event is the increasing attention non-voice technologies have received.
The number of major innovations made across the whole spectrum of carrier services has seen diversification in the range of sectors delegates attend from, making it an even richer experience for attendees. Due to the transition to all IP technologies, the event enjoyed an increased interest from data service specialists and messaging professionals attending to discuss the latest innovations and major challenges facing the sector.
In the lecture and forum programme, fraud and security were key themes. As the move towards all-IP continues, traditional carriers are faced with a whole new set of security concerns they didn’t face before. This is an area where BICS, as a wholesale carrier, can provide great support by offering innovative fraud protection solutions such as FraudGuard, a crowdsourcing platform designed to proactively share intelligence with the carrier community.
BICS is extremely active as a major combatant of the industry’s fraud cases. i3forum’s Fraud Workstream is led by BICS’ head of fraud operations and services, Katia Gonzalez, and has been instrumental in investigating the issue and providing guidance for the sector.
Also during ITW, BICS announced the availability of its new EasyConnect SMS solution, which was very well received by carrier service providers looking to gain entry-level access to BICS’ extensive infrastructure for carrier-grade messaging services. This goes alongside the EasyConnect VoIP product which also received plenty of traction at the event. The interest in the SMS side of the EasyConnect portfolio further illustrates the change in audience at the event, as carriers look to ITW for more than just voice services and the increasing market need for ‘plug and play’ solutions from a growing sector of the wholesale community.
Once again, ITW proved a hugely successful event for BICS, and one which we look forward to supporting for years to come.
