It was a great honour to receive the Best LTE Roaming Product award at the LTE Asia Awards last night, in recognition of BICS’ abilities to provide the highest quality roaming service to customers within Asia and beyond.
The judges at the Singapore ceremony praised the full BICS portfolio on LTE Roaming including the advanced Big Data Analytics platform Smart Webvision. Those services include BICS LTE Signalling, IPX Transport, IPX Access, OC Roaming, Instant Roaming, Signalling and Mobile IP VAS services. In winning this award, BICS continues to show its global technical, operational, hubbing and innovation skills as well as having the overall vision in simplifying operators’ deployment of next generation services.
LTE roaming has been a huge success story in the telecoms industry during 2015, driving revenues and usage alongside enhancing the quality of experience enjoyed by end users.
For operators in the Asian market, it is vital to be at the forefront of innovation with major players in the region frequently among the first adopters of service-enhancing technologies such as LTE roaming and VoLTE. Back in 2013, in partnership with BICS, SK Telecom performed the first intercontinental LTE roaming relation with Swisscom in Switzerland and Rogers in Canada, as well as the first video call on LTE between Belgium and Angola.
Since this technological breakthrough the demand for LTE roaming services has exploded in regions throughout the world. Operators using the BICS IPX hub are now able to offer LTE roaming to their customers while travelling in over 110 countries, reaching over 300 networks, with usage of the service doubling each month during the first part of 2015.
Thanks to BICS’ hubbing model, operators have been able to avoid the problems associated with installing the new technical interconnections and signing updated commercial agreements with all of their mobile network partners, to quickly install the service. The addition of the SMART Webvision analytics platform has given operators a granular view, business intelligence tools and high level of control of incoming and outgoing roamers, enabling them to ensure the highest quality services are available to customers.
Winning this award is not the end of the innovation, with BICS committed to bringing new technology to operators throughout Asia, and other advanced markets, to ensure they can offer cutting-edge services to their customers with the highest quality and commitment.
