Recently BICS was awarded the “Best LTE Roaming” product during the LTE North America conference in Dallas, TX. In addition to the awards ceremony, the conference in Dallas gathered  a record 1300 people to discuss everything related to LTE. Topics included the following: VoLTE (voice over LTE), devices, roaming, spectrum management, Hetnets and network optimization, public safety and monetization. Not to mention, how to manage the pending Mobile Data explosion. However, it must be said, the key focus and interest from the operators was VoLTE, Small Cells and how to manage spectrum.

On 21st November 2013, during the LTE North America Awards in Dallas, BICS has received the “Best LTE Roaming Product” Award for our LTE Roaming suite of Services.

This award recognizes the “Best LTE Roaming Product” that contributes to both making LTE more attractive for operators while at the same time contributing to the success of commercial LTE deployment. Other contestants for the award were: Aicent, F5 Networks, iBasis and Syniverse.

BICS is happy to announce that it has acquired Aervox on 1 October 2013.

Aervox is a Madrid-based software development company, specialized in the area of Roaming and Messaging. BICS and Aervox have been extensively collaborating for the last three years. Both BICS’ Roaming Hub and Instant Roaming platforms are today powered by Aervox.

BICS is convinced that this acquisition will further stimulate our ambitions to develop new services, new features and new inter-operability solutions for our mobile data business.

BICS today announced it has enabled the first 4G video roaming call (data roaming session) made in Africa, in the presence of HRH Princess Astrid, Princess of Belgium, on an official state visit by the Belgian Economic Trade Mission to Angola.

The video call took place during the official signature ceremony of the trade mission. It was performed between the Belgium Deputy Prime Minister / Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Didier Reynders in Luanda, and BICS’ SVP Operations and Customer Services, Mr Johan Wouters, located in Belgium, using BICS’ LTE signalling platform.

As BICS is launching SMART Webvision, the easy-to-use roaming, monitoring, tracing and business intelligence tool, operators connected to BICS can benefit of a trial period of one week on the SS7 SMART Monitor and SMART Track and Trace during the months of October or November 2013. BICS announced today that it has opened three new offices – in Ghana, Kenya and South Africa to ensure a strong local presence for customers in the African region. The offices are part of a broader programme of expansion in key growth markets and will provide a critical focus for sales and support of BICS’ portfolio of services.
