BICS is Successfully Paving the Way to Innovative Mobile Authentication

Concerns of authentication and number verification are key issues in 2016 as digital service providers look to secure their application or reduce wasted expenditure from engaging with erroneous or spam phone numbers.

Innovative businesses have seized the opportunity to address the demand for digital services, resulting in a volley of applications and A2P messaging from social media platforms, through to online banking and travel. These applications have boosted the market, not only allowing players to monetise the mobile ecosystem, but also providing a better experience for end-users.

These applications often enhance their digital services with use cases like authentication, notification alerts, transaction verifications or booking confirmations using messaging. This creates a challenge for these players who, without access to traditional infrastructure to verify phone numbers, can lead to increased costs of operations and even expose vulnerabilities which open doors for spam users.

As part of its extensive fraud protection suite, BICS has developed a sophisticated number verification technology that offers application providers access to innovative mobile identity and authentication solutions. With a simple setup through an API, BICS Authentication solution allows digital service providers, application developers, online banking, travel or Internet-based companies, to verify phone numbers before sending communications, thus preventing them from engaging with numbers that are either fraudulent or incorrect. The API also allows services to identify the type of phone numbers and the associated carrier enabling more context based communication.

BICS is also able to check in real-time against the FraudGuard Global Fraud Database to identify if the destination has been highlighted by BICS’ extensive partner network as being associated with suspicious activity. By blocking traffic associated with these numbers, communication providers can reduce spam messages & fraud within their network.

Using similar authentication technology, BICS has already blocked over 500 million spam or fraudulent interactions, safeguarding the revenue streams of its customers. The mobile authentication solution is aimed at helping customers reduce communication costs, improve their conversion rates on communications and prevent spam traffic on their network.

The launch of specific verification services has extended BICS’ marketplace beyond our existing customer-base of the world’s leading mobile operators to third party communications providers. In turn, this has given these companies an opportunity to provide an even more seamless service to the 7 billion subscribers across the globe who can now be reached on their mobile devices.
